A Celebration In Song

I take inspiration from watching classic musicals - an addiction that I've had since I was a child.  I've created the "Celebration In Song" shows to celebrate my musical icons.

My first show that I created and performed was "Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers - A Celebration In Song" which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2011, and then performed at both the Edinburgh and Adelaide Fringe Festivals in 2012.

I followed this up with my show celebrating my favourite Doris Day movies and songs - "Doris Day at the Movies - A Celebration in Song".

One of my favourite musicals is "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes", and so Marilyn Monroe provided inspiration to complete the trio of "Celebration" shows.

A Tribute to...

I grew up watching musicals, and singing along at the same time.  My favourite memory of Christmas and New Year as a child was watching "The Wizard of Oz" and "The Sound of Music".  This extended to the wonderful musicals of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers; Bing Crosby; Gene Kelly; Judy Garland; Doris Day and Marilyn Monroe.

And the backbone to all of these wonderful musicals - the composers and lyricists who created timeless songs.  George & Ira Gershwin; Cole Porter; Irving Berlin; Richard Rogers; Lorenz Hart to name but a few.

"A Tribute To" is dedicated to the works of these legendary names in the Great American Songbook - with "I Got Rhythm - A Tribute to George & Ira Gershwin" in 2012 and 2015; and for the 2013 and 2014 Edinburgh Fringe - "Anything Goes - A Tribute to Cole Porter".  In 2017 I'm performing my tribute to the legendary lyricist Dorothy Fields.
